Safeguarding Children and Young Adults

Following the recent press coverage relating to youth football we would like to reassure all parents and members involved with Leigh and Bransford badgers Football Club (LBBFC), that, as a club we do we everything possible to make sure children are protected at all times.

This is at the core of our club values, it is our priority, and will be placed above everything we do.

We acknowledge that every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from poor practice and abuse. To do this we understand this is the responsibility of every adult involved in our club. As part of our commitment to this vital pre-requisite:

  • Every coach, manager, administrator or volunteer directly involved in running or administering any LBBFC team will have successfully completed a DBS check to be able to assist with training and matches.
  • All our teams have a minimum of ONE level 1 qualified coach attached to the team.
  • This level 1 coach must have completed the FA’s safeguarding children workshop whilst gaining their qualification.

All coaches / managers are encouraged to progress with their qualifications and have to renew their safeguarding qualification every three years which comes in line with the current directive from the FA.

The club has an extremely diligent Welfare officer who’s work is in line with the Football Associations role profile following their attendance at recent Safeguarding and Welfare workshops.

  • Full details of the Badgers Welfare Officer (Alex Warner) can be found on the Club Officials page or by emailing him at safeguarding@lbbfc.com
