On Wednesday 20th June, the Leigh and Bransford U12 City squad concluded their 2017/18 campaign with an 11 a side charity match at Powick. The Badgers had the honour, and privilege of playing host to an amazing group of young ladies from the u13 WBA Worcester Player Development Centre (PDC) drawn from schools across Worcestershire. With the recent success of the club’s own Girls Development opportunities, this was a key landmark to demonstrate that football is for all and just what can be achieved with hard work and the right attitude.
Played in amazing spirit, this very competitive match was a great example of the friendships that can be forged, boys and girls enjoying their sport together, whilst raising much needed funds for such an important cause. It also cemented the partnership, and mutual support, offered by the The WBA Foundation to the club, an organisation where numerous badgers, both Boys and Girls, enjoy additional coaching opportunities.
The charity collection, for Acorns Children’s Hospice, continued post match as the players enjoyed the hospitality of the Red Lion, Powick, raising in excess of £100. What a great night, well done and thank you all involved. #BadgerFamily #OnceABadger
